Design Inspiration
The name Locus Chair comes from the word “locus,” meaning “place” or “location.”In designer Liang Yingjie’s interpretation, the word carries two layers of meaning: the place where things begin to emerge, and the center toward which action and intention are directed. As an object that gathers human intention, a chair does more than support the body. It reveals the presence of the user and creates a deeper relationship between people, furniture, and space. The design of Locus Chair begins with structure. Instead of treating form as decoration, it looks for innovation within construction details. Its distinctive shape follows a clear structural logic, using form to express the mechanics behind the chair.

Highly Recognizable Form
The design of Locus Chair combines the simplicity of Scandinavian design with the functional rationality of Bauhaus. Starting from a functionalist approach, it brings material and structure together in a clear and integrated way. Lines and volumes reinforce one another, shaping a light and slender overall profile. At the armrest, the frame bends downward earlier than expected, creating a distinctive outer silhouette. Within its precise structure, this detail introduces a subtle sense of floating lightness. Every detail is refined so that the form and structural logic feel naturally connected.
The stainless-steel frame is finished with a high-quality mirror polish, giving Locus Chair a refined and elevated material expression. The reflective steel captures floor textures and surrounding light, allowing the chair to blend naturally into different spaces without feeling visually intrusive. The frame is formed as an integrated structure, offering a stable and grounded sitting experience. Each bend is carefully polished and refined by craftsmen until it reaches a smooth, natural state.
The combination of a polished steel frame and geometrically defined leather upholstery creates a balanced contrast between cool precision and warm softness. Visually, it feels clean and enduring. Tactilely, it offers comfort and warmth. This combination gives Locus Chair strong spatial adaptability. Whether placed in a residential living room, office discussion area, hotel setting, or exhibition space, it integrates naturally into the scene. It does not dominate the space, yet remains an essential part of the overall atmosphere.
