Grado & 2023.4 Milan Design Week
Milan Design Week was scheduled to take place from April 18th to 23rd, 2023, at the Superstudio Più in Via Tortona 27, Milan. Our journey to Milan Design Week was disrupted for three years due to the pandemic. The theme of GRADO's Milan Design Week presentation is "Fusion and Innovation." Encountering the international market, we recognize both opportunities and challenges, which require continuous adjustment, upgrade, and change. In the end, we presented the products developed and refined during these three years as a symbol of renewal.
One of the notable introductions at Milan Design Week will be the Lamma Lounge, a new sofa from Grado. The Lamma Lounge is the result of a collaboration between Grado and the renowned Italian architect and designer Claudio Bellini. It represents the synergy between architects and designers, featuring simple lines and various fabric options to create a vibrant and dynamic space. The Lamma Lounge is an ideal choice for office spaces, combining aesthetics with functionality.
In addition to the Lamma Lounge, Grado's portfolio at Design Shanghai will feature other notable pieces, including the Lili, Beos, and Buddha series. The Lili Lounge chair boasts a sleek and dynamic curvature, inspired by blooming flowers, while the Beos Lounge chair draws inspiration from the golden ratio found within seashells. The Buddha Sofa combines the elements of Eastern Buddhism, portraying a relaxed and plump form. These pieces blend recognizable elements to establish an international identity for Grado.
In particular, this exhibition is co-curated by DESIGN PIUS DESIGN as the design guide, GRADO as the design brand, as well as Design YRD and Design Spring as collaborative brands. We were altogether curating this exhibition to ensure its perfect presentation.
Grado & 2023.6 Design Shanghai
Followingly, Design Shanghai took place from June 8th to 11th, 2023, at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, located at 1099 Guozhan Rd, Pudong New District, Shanghai. Grado's participation in Design Shanghai aligns with the event's focus on bringing together Chinese and international brands to showcase their designs and foster cross-cultural exchange. As an influential Chinese furnishing brand, Grado gets the opportunity to present its unique design concepts, techniques, and vision to a diverse audience at the fair.
Grado has been among the 600 brands and studios showcased at Design Shanghai, representing the best of Chinese design along with brands from 40 other countries. The fair provides an ideal platform for Grado to exhibit its furniture designs, including the Lamma Lounge, Lili, Beos, and Buddha series, which embody the brand's values and assets developed over the past decade.
In line with Design Shanghai's emphasis on curated exhibitions, Grado's exhibition space was curated to showcase the brand's distinct approach to design. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Grado's innovative and stylish creations, experiencing firsthand the fusion of traditional culture, concepts, and designs that form the foundation of the brand's unique aesthetic.
Moreover, Design Shanghai featuring experimental and innovative designs provides Grado with a platform to showcase its forward-thinking and creative approach to furniture design. The fair's recognition of Restudio's textile-based vessels, winner of the Best Experimental Product Design, demonstrates the value of pushing boundaries and exploring new design possibilities – something that resonates with Grado's design philosophy.
2024 Looking ahead
Milan Design Week and Design Shanghai are essential events in Grado's calendar that showcase the brand's connection with the international fashion framework. Grado aims to continue its presence in international fashion events and further explore the possibilities of furniture design.
